Cannes

Cannes is an elegant coastal city on the French Riviera, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea and has approximately 75,000 inhabitants. Cannes is particularly known for its luxurious atmosphere, yacht harbors, sandy beaches and exclusive shopping. Cannes is most famous for hosting the Cannes Film Festival every May, one of the world's most prestigious film festivals, where the Palme d'Or is awarded. The festival brings together film stars, directors and journalists from all over the world. Cannes has a long history as a fishing village but became an exclusive seaside resort for European nobility in the 19th century. Today it is a popular tourist destination with 5-star hotels, the Palais des Festivals, the Croisette promenade and proximity to islands such as the Îles de Lérins.
