The webcam is located at the Palais d'Iéna - an impressive building located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, near the Trocadéro and the Seine River. It was designed by the famous French architect Auguste Perret and built between 1937 and 1946. The building is a prominent example of modernist architecture and is particularly notable for its use of reinforced concrete, a material pioneered by Perret. The Palais d'Iéna was originally built as the Musée des Travaux Publics (Museum of Public Works), but was never officially opened as a museum. After World War II, the building took on a new role. Since 1959, it has been the headquarters of France's Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Conseil économique, social et environnemental, CESE), an advisory body to the government.
