Kos Port - in the heart of Kos Town, is a historic and lively port

Kos - a Greek island in the Dodecanese archipelago in the southeastern Aegean Sea, near the Turkish coast. Kos is known for its combination of history, sandy beaches and lush nature, and is one of Greece's most visited islands thanks to its pleasant climate, hospitable atmosphere and well-developed tourism. Kos Town, the island's capital, has a mix of ancient, medieval and modern architecture. There are ruins from Greek and Roman times, a Venetian castle at the entrance to the harbor and a beautiful palm-lined promenade. It is a lively town with taverns, shops, cycle paths and an active nightlife. Kos offers many long sandy beaches, especially along the southern and eastern coasts. Popular bathing spots include Tigaki, Marmari, Paradise Beach and Kardamena, where the water is clear and inviting. The island is also popular with cyclists due to its flat landscape and developed cycle paths, something unusual for Greek islands.

Kos Port - here history, shipping and tourism meet in a beautiful setting lined with palm trees, historic buildings and modern facilities. The port has been used since ancient times and has been of great importance for trade and communication in the Aegean Sea over the centuries. Today it functions as both a commercial and tourist port, with ferry connections to other Greek islands such as Kalymnos, Nisyros, Patmos and Rhodes as well as to the Turkish coastal town of Bodrum, about 20 km away. At the entrance to the port is the Neratzia Castle, a 15th-century Venetian defensive structure that dominates the skyline and testifies to the island's strategic importance throughout history. Next to the port is also the famous Hippocrates tree, where, according to tradition, the father of medicine taught his students. The promenades around the port are popular with both tourists and locals. Here you will find restaurants, cafes, small shops, travel agencies and boat rentals.
