Thassos, Limenas, Limenas Beach, Limenas Port

Limenas - also called Thassos Town, the capital and port city of the island of Thassos
Thassos is a green, mountainous island in the northeastern Aegean Sea, close to the Greek mainland and the city of Kavala. Known as the “Green Island”, Thassos is covered in dense pine forests, olive groves and mountain villages. Thassos has a rich history with traces of ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine civilizations, visible in, among other things, the ancient theater and the ruins of Limenas (Thassos Town), which is also the main port. Thassos is famous for its beautiful beaches, such as Golden Beach, Paradise Beach and the unique Giola – a natural rock pool carved by the sea. Thassos also has a good reputation for its local products, especially honey, marble, olive oil and wine.
Limenas - also called Thassos Town, is the capital and port city of the island of Thassos in the northeastern Aegean Sea. Limenas is located on the northern coast of Thassos and is both a historical and contemporary center for commerce, tourism and local culture.
Limenas Beach is located close to the city center and offers a comfortable, shallow beach with clear water and facilities such as sun loungers, cafes and beach tavernas. It is a popular spot for both locals and visitors who want to swim close to the city's amenities.
Limenas Port is Thassos’ main ferry port, where boats from the mainland, especially Keramoti, arrive. The port is lively but picturesque, lined with restaurants, small shops and quayside promenades overlooking fishing boats and ferries. From here, it’s easy to explore both the town’s attractions – such as the ancient theatre and archaeological museum – and the rest of the island.
