Palermo, city view towards Stazione Palermo Notarbartolo - Italy

Palermo - a city rich in history, culture and contrasts.
Palermo is the capital of the Italian island of Sicily. Palermo is a city rich in history, culture and contrasts. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, at the foot of Mount Pellegrino, Palermo has been a civilisation for over 2,700 years. Over the centuries, the city has been influenced by many different peoples – Phoenicians, Greeks, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards. This is clearly visible in the city’s architecture, cuisine and lifestyle, where Baroque palaces, Arabic domes and Norman churches coexist in a colourful urban landscape. Palermo is particularly famous for the Palatine Chapel, the Norman cathedral, and markets such as Ballarò and Vucciria, where scents, flavours and voices fill the narrow alleys. Palermo also offers a vibrant cultural life, with the Teatro Massimo opera house as a cultural hub. With its location on the sea, proximity to beautiful beaches and its rich history, Palermo is a city where the pulse of the Mediterranean meets timeless history.
Stazione Palermo Notarbartolo - one of Palermo's busiest railway stations and a central hub for the city's public transport. The station is located at Piazza Matteo Maria Boiardo, about 6.5 km northwest of the main station Palermo Centrale, and is named after the nearby street Via Notarbartolo.
