Venice, Guglie Bridge, Cannaregio Canal - Italy

Guglie Bridge and Cannaregio Canal – the gateway to Venice
Venice (Italian: Venezia) is one of Italy's most famous and unique cities. It is located in northeastern Italy, on the Adriatic Sea, and is built on over 100 small islands in a lagoon. Instead of regular streets, Venice has canals. There are no cars or roads in Venice.
Ponte delle Guglie - a stone bridge built in the 16th century, meaning "bridge of spires", is easily recognizable by its tall decorative marble spires at each corner. It is the only bridge in Venice to have such decorations. The bridge crosses the Cannaregio Canal and is an important pedestrian route for both locals and tourists. Located near the Santa Lucia station, the bridge is often the first impression many people get of Venice when walking from the train station towards the heart of the city.
Canale di Cannaregio - the second largest canal in Venice after the Grand Canal. It stretches from the Lagoon at Piazzale Roma and leads into the city center. The canal was historically important for trade and transportation, and today it is still active with vaporetti (water buses) and other boats. Along the sides of the canal are cafes, markets and residential buildings, giving the area a local and authentic feel compared to the more touristy parts of Venice.
