Baccaro Point Lighthouse - at the far end of the Baccaro Peninsula in southwestern Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is one of Canada's easternmost provinces, located on the Atlantic coast. Known for its dramatic coastline, maritime heritage and charming small towns, Nova Scotia is part of the Atlantic Canada region and consists mostly of a long peninsula surrounded by hundreds of islands - including Cape Breton Island in the northeast, home to the famous Cabot Trail and a strong Scottish-Celtic heritage. The capital, Halifax, is the province's largest city and main port. It is both a cultural and economic centre with a vibrant university community, a rich cultural scene and a historic harbourfront. Halifax also plays a central role in Canada's maritime history and remains an important base for both merchant shipping and military vessels. Nova Scotia has a diverse landscape: from rocky coastlines and mist-shrouded lighthouses to fertile valleys and dense coniferous forests. The province is also home to the Bay of Fundy, which has the highest tidal range in the world. Historically, Nova Scotia has been characterized by fishing, shipbuilding and shipping, but today also has a growing focus on tourism, technology, education and renewable energy. The population, which amounts to just over 1 million inhabitants, has roots from Scotland, France, Germany, Africa and indigenous peoples, among others, which is reflected in the province's culture, food and festivals.

Baccaro Point Lighthouse - At the tip of the Baccaro Peninsula in southwestern Nova Scotia, it marks one of the southernmost points on the mainland. Originally built in 1850, the lighthouse stands as if on the Atlantic Ocean, guiding ships through the often foggy and stormy waters off Shelburne County. The current lighthouse, constructed in 1934, is a classic white tower with a red roof and lantern, typical of Canadian coastal lighthouses. The area is known for its dramatic coastal scenery, harsh weather and strong tidal currents, making the lighthouse an important part of the region's maritime safety. Baccaro Point is not only a place of nautical history, but also a popular vantage point for birdwatching, photography and nature experiences. The lighthouse's remote location provides a tranquil atmosphere with expansive ocean views.
