Kenya
Kenya is a country located in East Africa, with a coastline on the Indian Ocean to the southeast and borders Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia. The capital, Nairobi, is one of the region's major cities and serves as its administrative and economic centre. The country has a varied landscape that ranges from coastal lowlands to high plateaus and mountains in the interior, including Mount Kenya, which is the second highest mountain in Africa. Kenya has a diverse population made up of over 40 different ethnic groups, with the Kikuyu, Luo, Kamba and Maasai being some of the larger ones. Kenya's two official languages are English and Swahili, reflecting its colonial history under British rule until independence in 1963. The economy is mixed, with agriculture as an important sector. Tea, coffee and cut flowers are significant exports, while tourism is another key part of the country's economy. National parks and nature reserves attract international visitors and are home to a variety of wildlife. Infrastructure varies between different parts of the country, with developed transport routes around major cities, while rural areas often have limited access to roads and services. Kenya also has a long coastline with the port city of Mombasa as an important port for international trade.
