Grote Markt – a historic trading place in Groningen
The Grote Markt square in Groningen is located in the city center, at the foot of the Martinitoren clock tower. It is home to the city hall, which was built in the early 19th century and is still used for political decisions. Around the square are buildings such as the Goudkantoor, known for its gold details, and various cafes and restaurants. The Grote Markt has served as a marketplace since the 15th century. Today, the square is used for both everyday trade and major events.
