Bodø is a city in northernmost Norway, located on a peninsula between Vestfjorden and Saltfjorden in Nordland county. Bodø is located just north of the Arctic Circle and is the largest city in Nordland county and the second largest in northern Norway, after Tromsø. Bodø is a hub for green infrastructure and innovation. Bodø is planning to implement one of Norway's largest development projects by building a new international airport, which is expected to be completed in 2029. The new airport will have a capacity of 2.3 million passengers annually and will free up land for urban development in the city center. Bodø is surrounded by spectacular nature, including fjords, mountains and the world-famous tidal current Saltstraumen. The city offers a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing and northern lights safaris. During the summer, visitors can experience the midnight sun, while winter offers opportunities to see the northern lights. Bodø is also a starting point for trips to Lofoten and Helgeland.
