Harstad is located in northwestern Norway, in the Northern Norway region, and belongs to Troms og Finnmark county. The city is located on Hinnøya, which is Norway's largest island (excluding Svalbard), and is located by the Vågsfjorden, part of the Norwegian Sea. Harstad is an important cultural city in Northern Norway with proximity to both mountains and the sea.
