Hellesylt is a popular stopover for cruise ships sailing along Norway's fjords, especially for those visiting the Geirangerfjord. Many passengers take the ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger, a journey that offers spectacular views of the fjord landscape. During the high season, the ferry runs regularly, making it easy for visitors to explore both villages. Hellesylt is a small village located in Stranda municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, on the western side of Norway. It is located at the entrance to the Sunnylvsfjorden, a branch of the larger Storfjorden, and close to where the famous Geirangerfjord branches off. The village has a population of around 240 people (2024) and is a popular place for tourists wanting to experience Norwegian fjord culture. Hellesylt is accessible by car via road 60, which connects to the E39 at Hornindal and Vegsund near Ålesund. During the summer, it is also possible to get there by ferry from Geiranger or Valldal. The nearest larger city is Ålesund, which is located about 100 km to the west.
