Selje - a small, idyllic town located on the farthest west coast of Norway
Selje is a small, idyllic town located on the far west coast of Norway, in Vestland county. Selje is surrounded by a varied coastal landscape with high cliffs, sandy beaches, bays and mountain terrain. One of the most famous natural areas is Stadlandet, one of Norway's most weather-exposed places, where the North Sea meets the fjord coast. Despite the harsh climate, there are several popular beaches here, such as Seljesanden and Ervikstranden, as well as beautiful hiking trails. Selje is accessible by road, but has previously also had ferry connections to nearby islands and communities. There is public transport via buses that connect the town with larger communities such as Måløy, Nordfjordeid and Ålesund. The nearest airport is in Florø or Sandane.
