Majorca
Mallorca is the largest island in the Spanish Balearic archipelago and is located in the Mediterranean Sea, east of the Spanish mainland. The island is known for its warm climate, turquoise seas, dramatic mountain landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Palma de Mallorca, the island's capital, is a lively city with a mix of old and new. Here you will find the beautiful cathedral La Seu, charming alleys, elegant shops, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Although Palma is modern and cosmopolitan, there are traces of the island's history in every corner - from Moorish baths to Gothic buildings. Mallorca has a very varied nature. To the west rise the Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can hike, cycle or visit small villages such as Valldemossa and Deià. To the east and south, long sandy beaches and small coves spread out, often surrounded by pine trees and limestone cliffs. Popular seaside resorts such as Alcúdia, Cala d'Or and Playa de Palma offer both relaxation and activities for the whole family. The island also has a unique cuisine that combines Spanish, Catalan and Arabic influences. Local specialties include sobrasada (a spicy sausage), ensaimada (a sweet pastry) and fresh fish from the island's ports. Mallorca is also an important agricultural area, producing almonds, olive oil, wine and citrus fruits, among other things. Many smaller villages have preserved their traditional way of life, making it possible to experience the genuine Mallorca beyond the tourist trails.
