Playa de La Mata - a natural beach that stretches for more than two kilometers in Torrevieja
Playa de La Mata, also known as La Mata Beach, is the longest and most natural beach in Torrevieja, located in the northern part of the city along the Costa Blanca in southeastern Spain. The beach stretches for more than two kilometers. Unlike the more urban beaches in central Torrevieja, Playa de La Mata is surrounded by a nature reserve, with sand dunes and pine trees belonging to the Parque Natural de las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja. This unique environment makes the beach a favorite among nature lovers and bathers alike. La Mata Beach has fine, golden sand, clear water and often a calmer atmosphere, despite its size. Because the beach is so long, there is plenty of space, even during the summer season. Along the beach runs a promenade with cafes, small shops and tapas restaurants.
