Tväråvalvet - a popular off-piste area in Åre

Tväråvalvet is a popular off-piste area in Åre, located on the northwestern bare mountain of Åreskutan next to the forepeak of Västerskutan. The name "Tväråvalvet" refers to the arched shape of the valley, which gives the area its characteristic appearance. Tväråvalvet offers relatively easy off-piste skiing on open surfaces, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced skiers. The length of the slopes is about 1,500 meters with a drop of 350 meters, and the maximum gradient reaches up to 30°. The area is most popular during the spring and winter, especially when the snow is soft and the weather is sunny. Tväråvalvet is also a popular starting point for paragliders and hang gliders. The starting area is about 200 meters north of the Kabinbanan mountain station. For hang gliders there is a wooden ramp, while paragliders take off next to the ramp or on a rock outcrop 50 meters east of it.
