Hornavan, also known as Tjårvek in Pitesami, is a lake in the municipality of Arjeplog in Lapland. It is Sweden's deepest lake, with a maximum depth of 210 meters. Arjeplog is best known for its rich waters and scenic areas, which offer excellent fishing and is home to the Silver Museum with its unique collections of Sami silver. The Kungsleden, one of the world's most famous hiking trails, passes through Arjeplog and the stage between Abisko and Nikkaluokta is the busiest stretch in all of Sweden. In Arjeplog, saunas, also known as saunas, are as common as the midnight sun and the northern lights.
Arjeplog is Sweden's fourth largest municipality in terms of area, but has a low population density, with approximately 2,800 inhabitants and only 0.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The name Arjeplog, documented as early as 1636, is a Swedishization of the Sami name Árjepluovve.
