Falsterbo, Falsterbo Canal Boat Club - Sweden

Falsterbo Canal Boat Club, on the islet between Höllviken and Ljunghusen
Falsterbokanalens Båtklubb is located on the islet between Höllviken and Ljunghusen, close to wonderful sandy beaches and approximately 35 km south of Malmö. Falsterbokanalens Båtklubb, FBK is one of Skåne's larger boat clubs with approximately 1000 members.
History
When the Germans heavily mined off Falsterbo Isthmus during World War II, the state decided in 1939 that a canal would be built to secure coastal traffic.
The first boat passed through the canal on 1 August 1941. A new bridge was built in 1991 to replace the old wooden bridge. The bridge over the canal was previously opened when necessary, and at the discretion of the canal master, but in recent years it has been given a fixed opening schedule.
