Ostersund - Sweden

Östersund is a city located in Jämtland County, central Sweden. It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Storsjön, in the province of Jämtland, and is the county seat and the center of Östersund Municipality. The city stretches across Östersundet, the narrow strait between the mainland and the island of Frösön, which gives it a unique location and beautiful views of Lake Storsjön and the surrounding mountains. Östersund is known for its proximity to nature and offers a wide range of outdoor activities all year round, including skiing, ice skating and fishing. The city also has a rich cultural life with several museums, theaters and events that attract both residents and visitors.

Jämtlands Gymnasium Wargentin is one of the most prestigious and largest upper secondary schools in northern Sweden, located in central Östersund. The school has existed since 1847 and is part of the Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund. Since the autumn semester of 2008, the school has been named Jämtlands Gymnasium Wargentin, in memory of the prominent astronomer and statistician Pehr Wilhelm Wargentin. He was one of Sweden's most prominent scientists in the 18th century and a pioneer in statistics and astronomy.
