Skellefteå - Sweden
Skellefteå is the central town of Skellefteå Municipality, Västerbotten County. Skellefteå is located approximately 80 km south of Piteå, approximately 135 km north of Umeå and approximately 15 km upstream from the Gulf of Bothnia and Skelleftehamn. Skellefteå Municipality is Sweden's largest coastal municipality in terms of area, and several rivers, including the Skellefteälven, flow through it. Around 83 percent of the municipality's area is covered with forest. The municipality includes the Skellefteå Municipality archipelago with 695 islands in the Gulf of Bothnia. The area contains the Skellefte Field with gold, silver and copper ore, which is the basis for the business community with companies such as Boliden, which in the early 2020s was the municipality's largest private employer.
