The Nobel Prize has been awarded in the Concert Hall every year on 10 December since 1926, except during the Second World War when the world situation meant that the award ceremony was postponed for two years. The large concert hall is then decorated with thousands of flowers and the blue carpet with the Nobel emblem is laid out and the chairs for royalty, Nobel laureates and members of the Academy are prepared. The prizes awarded in the Concert Hall are physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and also the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Memory of Alfred Nobel, i.e. the Prize in Economics, which was added in 1969.
