The slaughterhouse area is being developed from an industrial area into a new city district with 4,000 new homes, approximately 10,000 workplaces, schools, kindergartens, businesses and commerce. Buildings of cultural and historical value are being preserved and stand side by side with new architecture. Tradition and history are being preserved through public activities linked to gastronomy and events. The area will be developed gradually in several stages over the coming years.

The new Slakthus area is expected to be completed by 2030 at the earliest.
