Bothniabanan - Umeälvsbron, a railway bridge built in Umeå in 2008-2009
Bothnia Line - 190 km of new railway between Ångermanälven and Umeå. Construction of the Umeälvsbron started in 2008 and was completed in 2009. The Bothnia Line was inaugurated on August 28, 2010. The webcam was placed at the construction site of Norrland's longest and Sweden's second longest railway bridge. It is the 1937 meter long bridge over the Umeälven just south of Umeå. The bridge has 39 supports including two land abutments. Fourteen supports are in water. 20,000 m3 of concrete and 8,000 tons of reinforcement were used to build the bridge. The purpose of the Bothnia Line was to create a modern railway line along the Norrland coast. There was a capacity shortage on the main line through upper Norrland, which is slow, winding and hilly.
