Västervik - at the mouth of Gamlebyviken on the Baltic Sea, in northeastern Småland, in Kalmar County

Västervik is a coastal town in northeastern Småland, in Kalmar County, located at the mouth of Gamlebyviken Bay on the Baltic Sea. The town is known for its beautiful archipelago with over 5,000 islands, cliffs and islets. Västervik is often called the pearl of the east coast, a town near the water and a town with many charming houses from several hundred years ago. The first town with the name Västervik was located at the far end of Gamlebyviken, where Gamleby is now located. Västervik is mentioned as a town in 1275 and the town was moved to its current location in 1433.

The exhibitions at Västervik Museum span several eras, focusing on seafaring, local history and cultural heritage. One of the most popular attractions is the world-unique exhibition about the Vasa Kings' ships, where visitors can experience 3D and VR technology to immerse themselves in 16th-century maritime history. In addition, there is an open-air museum farm with peasant buildings, a forge and a boat collection that showcases traditional clinker building techniques.

Uno's Tower, located on Kulbacken, offers a fantastic view of Västervik and Gamlebyviken. The tower was built in 1997 after a donation from Uno Malmberg and has since become a popular attraction. It is 18 meters high, and the viewing platform is 34 meters above sea level.
