Koh Phangan is an island in the southeastern part of Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand and belonging to the province of Surat Thani. Koh Phangan is mainly reached by ferry from the neighboring island of Koh Samui or from the mainland, and is known for its varied nature with beaches, hills and forest areas. The economy of the island is largely based on tourism, with elements of local fishing and small-scale agriculture. On the southern part of the island is Haad Rin Beach, a beach that is divided into two parts: Haad Rin Nok (east beach) and Haad Rin Nai (west beach). The east beach faces the sunrise and is the most visited. Haad Rin has developed with hotels, restaurants and tourist services, and has become a place where both relaxation and events occur. At Haad Rin is the House of Sanskara, an establishment that combines food, drink and music with a calmer focus compared to the more lively parts of the island.
