Crystal Beach – quiet tropical bay on eastern Koh Samui

Koh Samui is Thailand's second largest island (after Phuket) and is located in the Gulf of Thailand, about 35 km off the coast of Surat Thani Province in southern Thailand. The island is known for its white sandy beaches, coconut palms, luxury resorts and relaxed atmosphere, making it one of Thailand's most popular destinations. Koh Samui is approximately 233 square kilometres in size and has a hilly interior with rainforest, waterfalls and mountains, with Khao Hua Jook and Khao Pom being among the highest points. Surrounding the island are small islands such as Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, known for diving and snorkelling. Koh Samui has an international airport (USM) with daily flights from Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and international destinations such as Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Ferries also connect the island with Surat Thani and other islands.

Crystal Beach – also known as Thongtakian Beach or sometimes Silver Beach, is a smaller, scenic beach on the east side of Koh Samui. It is known for its clear turquoise waters, fine-grained sand and secluded location between the larger beaches of Lamai and Chaweng. The beach is located about 4 km north of Lamai Beach and is easily accessible via the main road. Despite its central location, it is relatively quiet and less touristy, making it a hidden gem on the island.
