Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of Europe's most well-preserved and atmospheric cities, known for its rich history, magnificent architecture and vibrant cultural life. The city is located on the Vltava River and has been a cultural and political center of Central Europe for over a thousand years. Medieval alleys, Gothic churches, Baroque palaces and the iconic Charles Bridge connect the historic city center, where the Old Town (Staré Město), the Lesser Town (Malá Strana) and Prague Castle form a unique whole. The Astronomical Clock on Old Town Square is a popular attraction, as is St. Vitus Cathedral and the Jewish quarter Josefov. Prague also has a vibrant cultural life with theaters, concert halls and museums, and the city is known for its long tradition of classical music, literature and beer culture. The combination of history, charm and modernity makes Prague one of Europe's most visited destinations.
