Václav Havel Airport Prague - The largest and most important international airport in the Czech Republic, located approximately 12 kilometers west of central Prague. It is named after the former president and writer Václav Havel, who played a crucial role in the country's transition from communism to democracy. The airport was inaugurated in 1937 under the name Ruzyně Airport and has since grown to become a central hub for air traffic in Central Europe. Today, the airport handles over 17 million passengers annually (before the pandemic) and offers direct connections to hundreds of destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America. Václav Havel Airport Prague has four terminals, with Terminal 1 used for flights outside the Schengen area and Terminal 2 for Schengen flights. Terminal 3 is dedicated to private and government flights, while Terminal 4 is historic and not used for scheduled traffic.
