Brooks Falls - one of the world's best places to see bears in the wild

Katmai National Park and Preserve is located in southwest Alaska and is one of the most unique national parks in the United States, known for its volcanic activity, wilderness and large brown bear populations. The park was created in 1918 to protect the area surrounding the dramatic volcanic eruption of 1912, which created the surreal landscape of the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, an area filled with ash fields and smoking fumaroles. Because Katmai is difficult to access, it is mainly reached by seaplane from cities such as Anchorage or King Salmon, which helps to preserve its wild and untouched character.

Brooks Falls - where visitors can see brown bears catching salmon in the rushing water, salmon jumping up the rapids during their spawning migration. At Brooks Falls, there are special viewing platforms and footbridges where visitors can observe the bears up close in their natural environment, making the place one of the best places in the world to see bears in the wild. The park covers over 19,000 square kilometers and also contains glaciers, lakes, tundra and rivers.
