Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida. It is located between Boca Raton and Pompano Beach and has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Deerfield Beach was named in the early 1900s when the area was abundant in deer. Deerfield became a municipality in 1925 and was given its current name Deerfield Beach in 1939. The coastline is central to the city's identity, with a long fishing pier and several parks. Quiet Waters Park is a larger recreational area with water activities and bike trails. The city center contains historic buildings such as the Butler House and a local museum. Deerfield Beach covers just over 16 square miles (42 square kilometers), of which a smaller portion is water. The population was about 86,800 in 2020.
