Tropical Reef Habitat - mimics a colorful coral reef

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, is one of the largest and most visited aquariums in the United States. It opened in 1998 on the city's waterfront near Rainbow Harbor and offers a fascinating look at marine life in the three main regions of the Pacific Ocean: the California Coast, the North Pacific, and the tropical South Pacific.

Tropical Reef Habitat - mimics a colorful coral reef from places like Hawaii or Fiji. This 1 million-gallon aquarium houses over 1,000 fish and marine animals, including reef sharks, moray eels, sea turtles, rays and colorful reef fish. Visitors get a nearly immersive experience through a panoramic view where the fish swim by in all directions. The exhibit highlights not only the visual appeal of tropical reefs, but also their ecological importance and the threats from climate change and ocean acidification. In addition to the tropical reef, the aquarium also offers other interactive experiences such as touch pools, penguin exhibits and marine education programs, and is actively involved in marine research, conservation projects and education. With its combination of entertainment, science and sustainability focus, the Aquarium of the Pacific is a major hub for marine awareness on the West Coast of the United States.
