Santa Monica – an iconic coastal city in California

Santa Monica is a well-known coastal city in Los Angeles County, California, located directly on the Pacific Ocean. The city has a population of approximately 90,000 and is particularly famous for its long sandy beach, the Santa Monica Pier with its amusement park and aquarium, and the lively Third Street Promenade. Santa Monica combines a laid-back beach culture with an urban lifestyle, and attracts both tourists and locals with its mild climate, bike-friendly streets, and proximity to Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles. Santa Monica is also a hub for technology and media, often referred to as part of "Silicon Beach".

Santa Monica Pier - a wooden pier that extends into the Pacific Ocean from the beach in Santa Monica. It was inaugurated in 1909 and is today one of the city's most famous attractions. The pier houses, among other things, the colorful Pacific Park amusement park, an aquarium, small shops, restaurants and a historic carousel from 1922. From the pier, you have a wide view of the ocean and the beach, and it is a popular place for tourists, locals, fishermen and street artists. It is also the official end point of the classic Route 66.

Santa Monica Beach - Approximately 3.5 miles long, it offers fine sand, swim-friendly waves, bike paths, volleyball courts, and proximity to the Santa Monica Pier. The beach is popular year-round for sunbathing, surfing, walking, and outdoor activities. The beach is also home to The Strand, a well-used bike and pedestrian path that connects several coastal towns. Showers, restrooms, and lifeguard towers are located nearby.
