Las Vegas in southern Nevada, known for its casinos, hotels, live shows and neon-lit boulevards. Las Vegas was founded in 1905 and grew rapidly after gambling was legalized in 1931. Today, the Las Vegas Strip is the heart of the city's entertainment scene, with iconic hotels such as the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and The Venetian. In addition to gambling, Las Vegas also offers concerts, theater, shopping, world-class restaurants and major sporting events. Las Vegas is also a popular destination for conferences and trade shows. The city has a dry desert climate with lots of sun and little rainfall. Las Vegas also serves as a starting point for excursions to places such as the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Las Vegas is a city where fun, extravagance and contrasts meet - a destination that never sleeps.
Allegiant Stadium - Construction began in November 2017 and was completed in July 2020. Allegiant Stadium cost approximately $1.9 billion and was financed through a combination of private funds and public hotel taxes. The stadium has used approximately 28,000 tons of structural steel, approximately 105,000 cubic yards (≈80,000 cubic meters) of concrete for the foundation and balconies, including 12 miles of drilled concrete columns (bore shafts). The stadium is the home stadium of the NFL team Las Vegas Raiders and the UNLV Rebels (college football). Allegiant Stadium can accommodate approximately 65,000 spectators and has a transparent roof and large windows overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The construction project was carried out by Mortenson/McCarthy and designed by Manica Architecture. Allegiant Stadium is now a major venue for sports, concerts and major international events, including Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.
