Brooklyn Bridge - one of the most iconic bridges in the United States, connecting the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City across the East River. The bridge was inaugurated in 1883 and was at its time the longest suspension bridge in the world, with a span of 486 meters. Built in the Gothic style with its characteristic stone columns and steel cables, the Brooklyn Bridge was an engineering masterpiece and a symbol of the progress of engineering. It was designed by John A. Roebling and completed by his son Washington Roebling, after his father's death. The bridge is open to automobile traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians, and offers spectacular views of the New York skyline. It is both a National Historic Landmark and a popular tourist destination.


Brooklyn - one of New York's five boroughs, located on western Long Island, south of Queens and east of Manhattan. With over 2.5 million residents, Brooklyn is the most populous borough in New York City.
