Niagara Falls – one of the world's most impressive waterfalls
Niagara Falls is a group of three mighty waterfalls located on the border between the United States and Canada, where the Niagara River flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. The falls are one of North America's most famous natural attractions and attract millions of visitors from all over the world every year. The masses of water plunge from a height of up to 51 meters, and together the falls have an average water flow rate of over 2,400 cubic meters per second, making Niagara Falls one of the most water-rich waterfalls in the world.
In addition to its beauty, the falls are also an important source of energy, as hydroelectric power from Niagara is used to generate electricity on both the American and Canadian sides. Tourists can experience the falls up close through viewing platforms, boat tours (such as the Maid of the Mist), walking tunnels, and helicopter rides. Niagara Falls has a long history as both a romantic destination, a natural phenomenon, and a feat of engineering. It has also been the site of spectacular performances, with daring adventurers attempting to cross or jump over the falls in barrels—often with fatal consequences.
The three main parts of Niagara Falls
• Horseshoe Falls – the largest and most powerful falls, located two-thirds in Canada and one-third in the United States .
• American Falls – on the American side.
• Bridal Veil Falls – also on the American side, next to American Falls.
