Isle of Wight, Sandown Beach

Sandown Beach – a classic British beach on the Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight is an island off the south coast of England, in the English Channel. The Isle of Wight is part of the county of Hampshire but has been a self-governing unitary authority since 1995. The island is known for its beautiful scenery, historical attractions and coastal charm, and is one of the UK's most popular holiday destinations. The Isle of Wight is the largest island in the UK (excluding Great Britain itself) and measures approximately 380 km².
Sandown Beach - Isle of Wight's most popular and family-friendly beaches and located on the east coast. With its long, golden sandy beach, walkable promenade and traditional seaside resort feel. The beach is wide and shallow, making it particularly suitable for families with children and bathers. The water is usually calm, and the water quality is high, which has meant that Sandown is often awarded Blue Flag status - an international eco-label for clean and safe bathing areas. Behind the beach runs a promenade with cafes, ice cream kiosks and small shops. Here you can walk or cycle along the coast and enjoy the sea view. Right on the beach is Sandown Pier, with classic British entertainment such as arcade games, small shops and cafes. Also nearby is the Dinosaur Isle Museum, a family-friendly museum about the rich prehistoric life of the Isle of Wight. Sandown Beach is easy to reach by both car and public transport. Trains from Ryde stop in Sandown, just a few minutes' walk from the beach. There is plenty of parking, as well as access to toilets, showers and lifeguards during high season.
