DBW's Botanical Garden "Botan" in Visby
Visby Botanical Garden, the Society of the Bathing Lovers' Garden, is a botanical garden near the sea and the Beach Promenade in Visby. DBW's Botanical Garden, "Botan", has been located next to the beach in Visby for more than 150 years. The Botanical Garden of the Bathing Lovers was established in 1855 at the suggestion of Master Hans Petter Gustavsson, who wanted the growing generation to be given a living knowledge of nature. The garden soon became a popular place for walking. In the early 1930s, the garden underwent a thorough renovation and it was then given its current design. In addition to the botanical garden, the green area north of it also belongs to the DBW Society.
In Visby, with its location inside the wall and with a protective tree curtain, it can house many plants that otherwise do not thrive in Sweden. You can park outside the Powder Tower and then enter through the gate and turn left onto Strandgatan. On the way to the big gate, you pass Skogränd and Fiskargränd, where in the summer you are greeted by all the blooming roses outside the small houses.
