Oskarshamn is an urban area and the central town of Oskarshamn Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden, located at Döderhultsviken in the northern Kalmar Sound. Its background is the fishing village of Döderhultsvik, which became a market town in 1646 and became a city in 1856 under the name Oskarshamn. Oskarshamn Municipality is sometimes called the place of islands and lakes.
