Finland - "the land of a thousand lakes"
Finland is located in Northern Europe, between Sweden and Russia. Finland borders Sweden to the west, Norway to the north, Russia to the east, the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland to the south. The capital is Helsinki, which is located on the coast of southern Finland. Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for several years in a row according to the UN World Happiness Report. Finland is often called the "land of a thousand lakes" and there are over 188,000 lakes in Finland, more than in any other country in the world in terms of population. There are over 2 million saunas in Finland, more than one per household. The sauna is a central part of Finnish culture and is used for both relaxation and socializing. Approximately 75% of the country is covered by forest, making Finland one of the most forested countries in Europe. Bears, wolves, lynxes and moose live here in the wild.
