Canada
Canada is the world's second largest country by land area, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west, and north to the Arctic Ocean. It is a vast, diverse country with a rich natural landscape that includes everything from snow-capped mountain ranges, endless forests and sparkling lake systems to magnificent prairies and Arctic tundra. Canada is known for its untouched nature, but also for its high standard of living, modern cities and strong cultural identity. Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories, with the capital Ottawa in the province of Ontario. Among the largest and most famous cities are Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Quebec City – each with its own character, culture and history. Canada is a bilingual country, where English and French are official languages, and the French-speaking province of Quebec has a particularly strong cultural identity. Canada has a strong origin in its indigenous peoples – First Nations, Métis and Inuit – whose history and cultures play an important role in the country's identity. At the same time, Canada is one of the world's most multicultural societies, where immigration from all over the world has shaped an open and tolerant social climate. Nature experiences are a central part of the Canadian lifestyle. The country has over 40 national parks and protected areas, including Banff and Jasper in the Rocky Mountains, Niagara Falls in Ontario and the vast forests of the north. Wildlife is rich and varied, with bears, moose, beavers, lynx and whales, among others.
